Plane wave

Define the direction of arrival and the polarization of a plane wave.

Select the « Plane wave » check-button and define the direction of arrival. Then click on "Accept".

Theta is the angle between the direction of arrival and the z axis. It is also called zenith angle.

Phi is the angle between the projection of the direction on the xOy plane and the x axis. It is also called the azimuth angle.

Psi is the polarization angle.

These angles are also defined on the picture displayed in the window.

It is also possible to change the magnitude of the incident electric field.

Note : Only one kind of source must be selected among Plane wave, Source Point, Radar Cross Section, Voltage Source and Wave Guide. If you select a plane wave, other selected sources will be disabled. A warning will be displayed.

The expert's tip :

Use the Visualization tool check the defined direction of arrival and field polarization.
